A couple of miles leads you to Trago Mills a unique shopping and leisure park that is the perfect place for those looking to pick up a memento of their stay or to simply enjoy the wealth of activities they have for young and old alike. Newton Abbot is a market town in Devon, England. Located on the River Teign it is not far from Kingswerswell, Combeinteignhead, Ipplepen, Chudleigh, Marldon, and Bishopsteignton and is one of over 300 towns and villages in Devon in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The nearest designated cities are Exeter (population 106,772), Plymouth (population 243,795), and Wells (which has a population of 10,406 according to the 2001 Census).
The town grew rapidly in the 1800s because of its importance as the locomotive works for the South Devon Railway. This continued until the 20th century until the works were closed in 1981. Newton Abbot is also known for its racecourse which holds a number of important races. With its location near the coast and in the midst of an area of outstanding natural beauty Newton Abbot represents a great place to base a holiday in this region.
